We left last Saturday on our journey down the Mississippi River. They don't call it the mighty, muddy Mississippi River for nothing. We had good weather for the most part, but had a great deal of head wind. We went from the Rosedale Ms. harbor to St Francisville La. There we had problems with the motor and had to pull out. That was after traveling 354 miles. It was a great trip. The picture is sunrise over the mouth of the Arkansas River our first morning on the river. The second picture is the bridge at Natchez Ms.

Are you on your way or is that the end? Were you able to sail at all? Was there a lot of traffic? It seems like an unusual place to sail.

That was the end. Our motor died. We started on 10/22 and pulled out on 10/29. We are safely back home. We have done this trip in stages. We started in Webber Falls OK and have gone across Arkansas in the Arkansas River and have made itas far as St Francisville La. We had to motor most of the way. We had a head wind almost every day but sailed when we could. From Greenville Ms on down the barge traffic was heavy. Maybe unsual place to sail but the scenery was worth the trip, and we have met some of the nicest people on the river.

I spent about 15 summers at the War Eagle Seminar in Rogers. Stayed at the Hideaway campground right on Beaver Lake. Pretty lake to sail.

Reef early,

Be nice to read more about your trip and conditions you encounter. Marinas you visited, fuel and food stops, lock passages, people you met and of course more pictures.

Thanks, mel22 in Dardanell
