I am thinking of taking the boat out Monday gotta get one more sail in before the new year. Weather is supposed to be breeze 20% chance of rain and about 40 something degrees I have never sailed in the cold weather before what do you guys and girls up north think go for it or stay in. When I told the Admiral I was going sailing she said go ahead freeze your butt off. So what do you guys wear when yall go sailing to stay warm.

Grundens

I think it is recycled plastic. (Grundens)our local marine supply (Englund Marine) sells it. Pants, tops and bibs.. Very warm, all the local commercial fishermen wear it. Mike, Newport, Oregon. Central coast.

Same stuff you wear skiing...

You guys do ski right? Maybe not. Go for layers. Start with a wicking base layer and then add a thicker insulating layer(fleece). You are mainly fighting the wind chill so a wind breaking shell is essential. Have any Gortex? Tim R.

What the skiers said: Layers

Start with long underwear, top and bottom. You can call me a Pansy but I like silk underwear because it is lightweight, warm and wicks away moisture like no other fabric. Next layer is clothing; lightweight pants are a good idea as jeans get really heavy if they get wet. Next layer could be a fleece jacket. On top of this I would wear my expensive but good foul weather gear to cut the wind and keep out moisture - my foulies 'breathe' which allows some moisture (sweat) to get out. Ski goggles if it is real cold and windy but there is no chance you have these in NOLA. L'aissez les bon temps roulez!
