27 Info from press release
To appeal to the widest possible market, the 27 will be offered in three versions- an entry level priced base boat; a fully equipped cruising version; and a performance oriented racing version. The hull, drawn by head naval architect Glenn Henderson, has been designed to provide ample interior volume, while careful attention has been paid to underbody shapes to maximize performance and minimize drag. This hull shape allows for a spacious open plan salon and V-berth, fully enclosed head, and private aft cabin. An L-shaped galley, chart table, and plenty of storage places have also carefully been worked into the design, ensuringeverything needed for cruising is included. The 27 has been conceived as a “weekend” cruiser or racer. To this end, we’ve designed in some special features. A fully removable insulated cooler provides cold storage in the galley. The cooler is loaded at home, brought to the boat and placed in the specially designed locker that slides into the galley and out of the way.Similarly, the aft cabin features a “top loading” hanging locker, complete with a removable liner, which provides storage pockets for clothing; and dishware is also provided in a specially designed, removable canvasstorage system. After sailing, these items can be removed and brought home, making clean up and preparation for the next trip quick and easy. The base version also includes wheel steering, a manual pump fresh water system, portable toilet, 12-volt electrical system, mainsail and roller-furling jib, and freshwater cooled inboard diesel. The cruising versionadds shore power, pressurized hot and cold water, marine head and shower, and electrically powered insulated cooler. There is a choice of shallow or deep fin, or bilge keels. The race version will be tiller steered, and have a taller mast with more sail area, racing sails, and deep draft keel. The interior layout will be the same as the cruising version, but built with weight saving materials andtechniques developed for the company’s offshore express cruiser, the HC50, to reduce weight and improve sailing speed.
