As many of you know I recently broke a headstay and ended up having to replace the furler. It is a CDI model 10/12 with the type A spool. I have some parts and pieces that I have no use for. If anyone needs any of these, let me know, and you can have them for shipping costs. Most are no longer available, and I hate to just throw them away, but have no use for any of what I have. I have the bottom bearing, which seems to be in pretty good shape, and the bottom castings, except the roller drum. I have the top halyard fitting, which probably needs just lube and maybe a sheave. I have some of the foils, which are undamaged. Do not have any of the torque links or bushings. I think the bushings are the only parts which are still available. If anyone needs or wants any of this stuff let me know. Otherwise it will eventually end up in a land fill.

I know you realize that minute you throw them

away and sit down at your computer and open up SBO site, there will be someone wanting the parts. Try doing a dry run to the dump and return and see if theres a request for parts. It always seems to happen that way for me.

I bought three bar stools for cheap (not the stools, but the cost). I made two nice stools and kept the seat and the back of the third, thinking some day I'll need these. Well I made a work station using the legs, and placed the seat and back on a shelf. Time passed and I needed the shelf. So I tossed the seat (not the back for some reason). You know the rest of the story. About two weeks later someone (I think it was the dog) put a slice right in the middle of the seat. Ah ha, I thought I have spare parts for these stools. A quick check and you know it. I tossed it out. Man am I stupid or what? Don't answer that!.
I have always held the philosophy of, if I don't have to feed, water or educate it, I have room for it. Not so anymore, now that I live in a neighborhood with a small garage and no workshop. I can't even work on my boat on the hard at my marina. There is no "hard". What is this world coming to?
Thanks for the parts they fit perfectly.

Keep it up,

Glad you could use them

CTskip,

Glad you could use those pieces. I don't have much storage space, and I hate throwing usable pieces away. Hopefully someone will have a use for them. The foils list for 200 each on the CDI website, but are NA. And that stupid top halyard part is 150, and of course NA. Just hope some of our good friends on this site have a use for some of them.

Nice N Easy

I have a 20+ year old CDI w/the plastic drum on my 37'. Let me check my docs to see what model it is. Hold the dump run.

Am I confused?

CTskip sounds like my kind of recycling guy. Why throw away usable stuff that somebody somewhere might be able to use? My usual problem is the same as his. Every time I jettison something I realize about a month later that I could have used said piece of junk.
Am I confused or did Nice'n Easy take the CDI furler off your hands already? I am not interested in it as I have a new Furlex unit on my 'big' boat. When our old Harken unit had some extrusion damage in an unfortunate incident the sail loft riggers were about to chop up the old unit (which I thought was fixable but insurance paid for the replacement of) I told them to just leave the old unit there. Sure enough, a few days later a guy came up to me in our (yes) DIY yard on the hard and asked about it. I gave it to him and he had a rigger fix it for his boat. It only needed a few extrusions replaced and re-sized for his fore stay. I am still waiting for the payback, or yin-yang and that transaction but perhaps I was paid back a bit when I was not out when local weather was doing this: http://www.newsday.com/community/news/northshoresuffolk/huntington/ny-listor0808,0,1549147.story

CalebD, the parts you are refering to

belong to Nice N Easy. I got some parts from him earlier. He still has some parts(he listed them) if anyone is interested.
I used to keep good stuff (small things) on trays on the work bench, so I could see what there is. Then I moved and all the "good stuff" ended up in 5 gallon paint buckets on the floor in the corner. Lots of great usable "stuff" from electrical connectors to shackles to screws. Someday I organize the buckets and put all the "really" good stuff in the proper drawer so I can find it when I need it. Never toss anything that someone can use somewhere down the line. You wouldn't happen to need a small piece of wire would you? How about a hook? any particular size hook? Wire nut? I have lots of really good "stuff".
