I want to install a larger TV. They are amazingly cheap today. But my current factory TV is suspended from a small pipe that is right next to my compression post. Has anyone tried to use a larger TV that has various mounting positions on the back of it without having to move the factory-installed post? Thanks!

What is the object of the pipe? Does the TV slide up or down on the pipe? Since Hunter does not make TVs I'm sure the mounting hardware of TV to Base is standard. The variable would be in the range of motion afforded by the larger size of the unit. Measure what could be the largest size and still retain desired fit and motion. If you want a larger one then pick an alternative location and mounting bracket. A picture would help regarding the retaining or disposal of the pipe.

Sorry but I can't post a pic until I'm back aboard on Saturday. Interestingly, I went to "Yachtworld" to find an interior photo with my setup. I thought I could simply post that. But it looks like each boat is different! And NONE has my arrangement. I can't imagine how the factory made this decision.

I have the same set-up on my 2006 Hunter 45 CC. The pipe that you are referring to is basically a support to which they have attached the TV mounting bracket, and have run all of the various wires, and cables through so as to connect to the back of your current TV.

I am in the process of up-grading our TV, and am going to go with the same size. However if you want to go with a larger size TV, be sure to measure how much clearance you have from the headliner, and possibly the side bulkhead.

If you want to go bigger I think you could fabricate an extra mounting bracket to fit onto the Hunter designed original mounting pipe. On mine, the current TV has the standard ream bracket, which in turn bolts (top and bottom) to the "pipe"

Let me know if this helps.

You likely have the Bose entertainment system.
Regardless, most new TV's only have hdmi and maybe components
If you need Svideo or composite, may be an issue.
Check for sure before you buy

We have Direct TV with a satellite system on the boat. Do I ask Direct TV what I need?

Here is a picture of what I suspect is the mount being discussed. This is on my 2005 H44 AC.
Yes. But now picture that mine is on the PORT side and the mounting bracket is next to the compression post with just enough room for a small TV abutting the post.
