My 36ft. has a 2qm Yanmar I bought a tach and sender for it and it doesnt work. I get small voltage off sender, have run new wires for sender and 12v. It seems like it wants to work by erraticly jumping sometimes when wires are first touched to sender.Is there a resister or something I am missing?

John, it sounds like you have an electronic

tach that is a magnetic induction type mounted on the flywheel. The info you have supplied is a little too sketchy.The dealer you bought this from should be able to explain the installation clearly as long as he has complete info on your application. There is no voodoo about electronic tach units. I doubt the wiring is wrong, but rather the mounting point or the ability of the sender to read a clear signal.Not much help but maybe it could lead you in the direction of someone that can be.Raysv Speedy
