I have a 1982 Hunter 27 and am curious to know of a good use or purpose for the large well inside this boat port side just aft of the nav station. Pictures I've seen on-line show storage for anything from lines, bumpers, junk, life vests. Any opinion from owners about practical smart use of this space.....?

Our battery sits below a wooden cover in a well below the stern berth just aft of the nav station.

If you have an outboard instead of a diesel, that space could be empty. If not, where is your battery?

If you are talking about the port side stern berth, we use it for storage unless we need the berth. Once you get into it, it's a great sleeping berth.

Thanks for the replies I'm referring to the well area just to the left of the nav seat facing forward, maybe a screwy question, but there's no cover
just open bin if you will....what ever your putting in there your looking at...

John,
I have a 1982 Hunter also.
I found a great use for that well, it took a couple years but now use it all the time.
I don't know where you store the hatch opening covers when sailing, I have a 2 piece cover and used to store the 2 pieces in the rear berth and they would fall out. The hatch covers fit nicely in that well, there is a corner of the Nav table that goes into the well, by putting the covers in the well with the edges behind that extension, it holds the covers from flopping around during heavy sailing.

It would be interested in communicating the changes and enhancements you have done on your boat.
