Is there a replacement for the large plastic looking washers(spacers) on the rudder bolt? Mine are broken up pretty bad. Anyone tried casting them out of epoxy?

Cut them out of Poly.

Jim: I think you can find a plastics store and have them cut out of Poly. I do not know if Starboard would be any better but if there isn't any sun on them any poly should be fine.

Thanks Steve -

They look to be about 1/8th X 4". I think I will fabricate them out of a thin poly cutting board and thin them up to fit with a belt sander. The old ones break up real easy - if you try to carve off a piece it just crumbles. I wonder if a little teflon grease would help. Thanks again Jim

Have you contacted Hunter?

Jim: I assume that you have a Hunter? You may want to contact them. Also McMaster Carr quite often has a lot of wierd items. These may be better to be made from nylon if they are that thin. You may be able to purchase a small sheet of nylon and drill them out with a hole saw of different sizes. If the outside dimension does not make much difference you can cut it out with a jig saw too. The biggest problem is getting the stuff cut without breaking it.

rudder bearings

Ome was nylon, and when mine took a dump I replaced it with teflon because it was available from the trash of a local plastics co. Am not so sure that it takes UV all that well (superficial cracks after three years) but for the price and performance I might do it again. The nylon unit I took off was nearly old enough to drink, and had never seen shade. Hope this helps, regards, Jim
