Laptop Audio Output to 12V Amplifier (follow up)

Just wanted to post a quick follow up. I had asked the group about running audio/dvd from my laptop to a car amp and into speakers(without going through a head unit). The normal "laptop speaker" arrangement running out of the head phone jack was not adequate. Using a USB Creative Audigy external sound blaster as Monty Miller recommended and a Pioneer 2 X 60 watt amp the sound quality and volume was awesome. The Audigy sound blaster has a separate volume control and the software that comes with the card also has an equalizer program.Again thanks to those who responded. I couldn't get the answer from retail professionals but got a couple of solutions here on the forum.

I am amazed by the lack of knowledge at many retail outlets, and the amazing amount of knowledge present on this and other boards. I couldn't understand why my girl friends new lap top was so much slower than mine, even though it had a faster processor, and more memory. The dealer was absolutely no help. Then I read a post on this board, think it was curising, that explained the the new Vista operating system uses much more memory than XP. Question answered.

Thanks for informing this forum the status of your problem. Too many long threads with many different solutions that add up to many hours of work are created that don't receive any response from the person posting the problem.The next things you need are a powered subwoofer and a Fusion USB HDTV tuner.....
