My Lancer 28 only has 2 stays per side, inner and outer, both connected to the same chainplate. The boom may have reefing lines running externally, or, as the boom is used to raise the mast, there are two lines used to hold the boom versicle (sort of like stays) when the mast is lowered and you are getting ready to raise it..These lines connect to the toe-rail..Rigging details are shown clearly in the owners manual..
My 1979 Lancer 28 also has just two shrouds to one chain plate per side. From what I understand the three shrouds were an option. My boom has the main out-hall and two reefing out-halls run internally.
