I remember reading that someone had replaced the tiller on their 22 with a J24 Laminated tiller. Does anyone know what type of plates would be used to fasten the tiller to the rudder? I seem to remember someone posting that they had found some that fit in one of the marine supply catalogs.

I used the existing

I replaced the tiller on my 23 last year with one of the stock laminated tillers from West Marine (made by H&L). The end of the tiller fit perfectly into the existing rudder head plates. All I had to do was drill the bolt holes. I seem to remember that the tiller fittings on the 22 and the 23 were the same. BTW, I highly recommend getting a curved tiller; it is so much more comfortable to steer with, and it doesn't hit anyone's knees. The one I bought was a direct replacement for a 27 foot boat, but it was the same length as the original tiller for the 23.

Tiller upgrade

i bought mine from D&R, used the same mounting. only had to drill one hole. with the poor weather i haven't even put the boat in the water yet to know how i like it. looks good and it does have a rise to it so it should be comfortable. only concern here is mounting the tiller pilot.
