Here it is, the middle of May and time to plan the 2003 Lake Tahoe Flotilla for MacGregors, Ventures and anyone else with a sailboat that wants to come on up. This year’s Tahoe Flotilla will be July 25, 26 and 27, and (as usual) will meet up at Emerald Bay on beautiful Lake Tahoe. This is a no pressure, no formality get together for sailboats of the lowest cost and most industrious. We will have a pot luck dinner on the beach at Vikingsholm on Saturday evening, so show your best culinary skills, or be like me and bring a nice big watermelon. Other than that, we show off our boats, go for sails, swim in the cool lake, share stories and lies and just have a good time. If you would like launch ramp information, Karen put together a database two years ago and the information is still pretty good, let me know and I’ll e-mail the file to you. I can do Access or send it as a .pdf file. We hope to get the Mac 65 that sails Lake Tahoe to show up this year as part of the festivities. Seems like Rob Tuson “Resolution” met up with the owner a couple years back and made a friend. Remember NO TWO STROKE ENGINES ARE ALLOWED ON LAKE TAHOE. Even if you don’t start them!!! They are not allowed on, or close to, the water. And the fine, should you get caught, is very stiff. Tahoe is great in the mid-summer. The air is clear and thin, the lake water begins to warm some and the sailing is exciting! See you there. Bob Bcassel1@pacbell.net

Got one in August 9-10-& 11 too.

Great! I'll be on the lake on the 26, spend the night at Emerald Bay and leave early on the 27th.. Swim in Lake Tahoe? I have trouble just keeping my foot in the freezing water! Where I was born, the water is warm...Hawaii! Best place to launch and keep your trailer in an overnight lot is at the Coast Guard Station's boat launch at the north shore 15 SM away. However, the wind usually doesn't start blowing until after 2:00 pm, and then it REALLY blows. You may have to use an outboard to get to Emerald Bay any earlier. And yes, I have had my brand new outboard checked very closely by the Coast Guard to confirm that it is a 4-stroke. If my wife doesn't come, I'll probably bring a double bucket of KFC, a plate, a cup and fork....unless someone else has a better idea.
