Can anyone tell me, and give me the source of theinformation, the height of the I-10 bridge over Lake Pontchartrain between New Orleans and Slidell, LA. I have one chart that says 65 feet and another that says 19 meters, which I calculate to be 62.3 feet. Thanks.

Try reading the coastal pilot # 5, Chapter 7. http://chartmaker.ncd.noaa.gov/nsd/coastpilot.htm More accurate than scuttlebutt! Also cosnder looking at the "Notice to Mariners" on the USCG site.

In our Hunter Legend 45 we went to the north

(Slidell) side rather than the center (main channel) of the I10 bridge. The water depth is the same. The center span is 3-4' lower than the two sides. On a Caliber LRC47 that we sailed on the VHF antenna did touch when going thru the center, so when we went on our boat we took the side. The previous owner of our boat said that is what he did. We have been under the side of that bridge several times.

Thanks

I want to say thanks to both of you. Jim for giving me the web site for the Coastal Pilot. And that's the reason I wanted the source was to avoid local scuttlebutt. But I appreciate Glenda's response as well, because I'll sure look close at the Slidell side when I go through, because there is room for those who have been there and done that. My tendancy would have been to follow the channel, seems natural that it would go through the part with the highest point. Thanks to both of you and best wishes for the holidays.
