Less then one week to the western (and Canadian) version of this annual event. I hope that boaters from the U.S. aren't letting the misinformation of border crossings keep you from this event. No laws have changed. If you don't have your I-68 or new NEXUS form, there are plenty of U.S. ports with OARS Videophones. Even if we go Security Code Orange, you can get come back and report to the closest U.S. Coast Guard Station. It sounds like a weekend of fun activities at Port Credit, just west of Toronto. I don't know when the cut-off is for reservations, but have included the official website in the link below. We will be there with Liberty, and hope to see you also. Hope to be there!

Dear Ken: We'll be underway on 12 July for a two week family cruise with our new 426DS which will be launched from RCR Rochester (your backyard). Unfortunately, we'll not have an opportunity for any sort of shakedown cruise beforehand. We don't have a firm itinerary for the trip, but would like to try to make Port Credit. I'm not sure whether to register. Are you based at RYC? Jon

Shumway Marine

We are located at Shumway Marine, home of the new OARS Videophone. Our departure is scheduled for July 15, and plan on arriving at Port Credit July 17. That gives us 2-1/2 days cruising, with stops along the NY shore if weather permits. Let's face it, the weather controls everything, and I have been know to not plan an itinerary until we enter the lake. I think I know your boat, sitting near the entrance of RCR Yachts. I'll have to stop by and visit if I see the ladder in place. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty Rochester, NY Take a peak at my website listed below.

A ship climbing a mountain

Hi Chuck. From Lake Erie you must travel the Welland Canal. I happened across a link posted at the bottom that graphically shows how a ship climbs a mountain. I hope you can share the experience at the rendezvous. Hi Jon Louis. I see that your new baby is in the water now. I hope you can make the rendezvous so that we can all see your new 426DS. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty
