I am considering a brief vacation to Lake Norfolk in Arkansas. A quickie web search does not demonstrate any sailing sites related to the area. Has anyone any experience with Lake Norfolk? Should I consider it for a sailing vacation or pass? Known websites I should visit? Any insights would be appreciated. Thank you, Steve Growcock St. Louis, MO

Narrow breeze

I haven't been on Norfolk in many years but as I recall, its kinda windee (windy as in a windy road, not air pressure) with some bluffs that make the wind shift. Nevertheless the water is very clear and if you have a sailboat you will wish it were there. A bad day on the boat... You've got lots of choices nearby too-Greers Ferry Lake is best for sailing, and Bull Shoals and Beaver aren't too far away.

The other response is right on.

The comments from Andy are right on the mark. As long as you are in the area, there are a few other great choices in the west-central part of Arkansas - Lake Ouachita near Hot Springs and De Gray near Arkadelphia. Right now, the lakes are much better than the Interstates - lots of construction.
