Lake Lanier

We have a 1986 Catalina 30 that we keep in Westbrook, Ct and enjoy sailing Long Island sound. But... I am relocating to Atlanta for work. It appears that there are indeed Cat 30s sailing on Lake Lanier. However, I can't seem to find much info about sailing on Lanier.

Two questions: any lake lanier sailors on the forum? Is a cat 30 a good boat for the lake or too big? We would probably enjoy spending weekends on it.

I either need to sell this thing or move it down there. Given the age I should probably just sell it, but I have finally figure out all it's little foibles so I hate to start over.

I suggest getting in touch with Dottie Toney, she is the fleet captain for Catalina 34 Fleet 13 on Lake Lainier, which includes boats of all makes and sizes. A great group. Google Fleet 13. I have her email somewhere, but will find it you don't first.

Catalina 30 is a great boat for Lanier! There is only one place to launch a boat that size, Aqualand Marina. They have a yard where boats are routinely trucked in and out of. Once in the water you have a choice of several marinas for docking your boat. I keep my boat at Sunrise Cove Marina which arguably has the most sailboats of any marina on the lake.
When do you plan to move down?
