Does anyone out there know anything about Lake Norman North Carolina. I might be moving to that area and want to know about sailing on Lake Norman. Is it big or small? Active fleets? Let me know Art <)))><

Very Big

My brother in law did live in that area and he told me it was very big and I also thought about moving there I saw some big sail boats and power boats they even have marina's.

Art, Lake Norman is a fairly big lake. As is typical for many lakes in the southeast it was built by Duke Power for a power plant impoundment. There are at least two yacht clubs, the Lake Norman Yacht Club and the Outrigger Yachy Club, five or six marinas, and a Hunter dealership, as well as several power boat dealerships. Access for trailer sailors is very good with many ramp areas with large parking lots and good courtesy docks at the ramps. Ramps are maintained by N.C Wildlife Resources and Duke Power. There are many sailboats of all sizes. I like the lake, but do not enjoy the trip on the I-85 slaughterhouse from the Greenville S.C. area. Steve
