We used to have a ladies regatta. Basically the wives or whatever took the keelboats out to race with a real start and scoring. So I’ve had that experience. Sometimes cringing but delighted to see Lois grow into sailing. She left as crew and came back a sailor. The event died when the men wanted to go and took over. Some even wore wigs. Short term thinkers!

Holding up beers? You just know they are talking about their significant others! :wink3:
Great event! I don't think we have enough female members to have one.

99.9% sure its white wine, or cocktails. Not a beer drinker in that bunch!

WYC has the highest percentage of woman members in the country (around 40%) as tracked by US Sailing. Not just spouses mind you, but actual paying members. So the docks on race days are pretty much a 50/50 mix, and its not strange to see full woman crews, and we have three series where woman drive.

Three of the ladies there are accomplished sailor/racers, with Cindy being the newbie (1.5 years experience).

Jodi's been trying to plan this for a while, but weather and schedules always seemed to conspire. The stars aligned here.

...uh?

Your boat?

Looks like that ship has sailed!

Great photo btw
You might be right about that. There are plans to make this a weekly event.

Most of the boats at WYC are used 95% for racing, so are kinda stripped down and focused on that. So BlueJ with its diesel, standing headroom, full head, refrigerator, 4-speaker BT stereo, simple sail handling and storage.... minds blown.
