So, I put the BBQ mount on the boat and it looks good. I'm a bit concerned about the knobs for attaching the BBQ to the mount though. Even though they're made with a groove that I'd expect to keep them attached to the mount, there's no way to do it. The mounting holes are much larger than the bolt diameter. I'm pretty sure it's going to take about a week for me to lose one of the bolts or one of the washers (2 flat, 2 lock).

Anybody have this mount & grill? How do you mount it without losing things overboard? Any way to retain the bolt in the bracket?

Thanks,

Chris

I'm watching it but have had no problems since I mounted it. Why not try some Locktite (sp) if you are concerned about them loosening?

Rick's idea is a good one. Also consider nylock nuts instead of just plain ones. You can still use the lock washers, too. Belts and suspenders with added drawstrings usually keep my pants up, usually....

I hate the clamp type mount that came with my Force 10 Stow & Go. Have been thinking of ways to fabricate something better.

I have 2 screw knobs and have not lost one yet(3 seasons). I only attach the grill when cooking. The other racers already razz me enough for fying my flag! Of course they stopped laughing after I took the series with 2 races left.

I think mine is similar. I'm planning to do the same thing and only mount the grill to the bracket when we use it. I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope neither of the screw knobs goes swimming.

Thanks,

Chris

You're more worried about fumbling than vibration loosening, correct? Drill small holes in the plastic and thread in a length of monofilament line, or parachute cord, with a small snap shackle to the other end. Loop the line around a stanchion, thru the snap shackle.
