Does anyone have a Kubota serial number on the oil dipstick of a Universal M25 diesel(used in Catalinas and others 1981-1986)? I understand the M25 is mostly a Kubota D850 but there may be slight variances indentified by serial numbers.

model number or serial number?
I don't think a serial number is on the dipstick, just the model number. The serial number should be on the outside of the engine. http://www.catalina30.com/TechLib/FAQs/faq.htm How do I know which Kubota engine I have? Universal diesels are Kubota tractor engines. You just need to know the Kubota model number that is stamped on the dipstick. The following are Universal Marine/ Kubota tractor diesel designations: M15/5411 Z-500 M18 Z-600 M25 D-850 M25XP D-950 the engine number off my dipstick is 5377-36412 M3-20 D640 M30 D-1101 Kubota parts online: http://www.tractorsmart.com the 25XP is a "B" series tractor engine. Reason I ask this is that in order to help better, it would help us to help you if we knew why. That sets a record for the # of times the word help was used without ever asking for help! Help! Seriously, the M25 is a D850, the M25XP is a D950, etc. Then you can order parts from a Kubota dealer and save BIG $$$. Anything more specific we should know?
