Greetings. whoever was looking for the grease nipple, contact Steve
who might sell them, or how many times do i have to repeat this, Vega
Marin in Sweden, fax them at 031 29 24 49. Look up past messages for
contacting steve and how to fax and deal with Vega Marin. the latter
will sell you the whole kombi if you want but the grease nipple is
part number 7735.
Carol you were asking about holding tanks. if you put one in dont
just do a small one, just as easy to put in a big one and who knows,
next year you might want it. Like most of the others, our tank is
aft of the water tank with a space in between, the previous owner had
a galvanized (?) tank built to fit including a bit of a vee bottom
and it has lasted since the early 1970s. It is big enough for about
ten days, when we went south for a year we never once pumped solids
overboard. Incidentally Vega Marin sells a ball valve for closing
off the holding tank and pumping overboard, we put one in when moving
to salt water and it has worked well. Fortunately, British
Columbia is now putting in pumpout facilities.
Someone also commenting on heads. At least in 1994, the U.S. owner
of Par had a super service for parts for the original Par head. I
had trouble that year repairing the pump so bought the appropriate
new pieces and it has worked like a charm ever since .... the
supplier sent the parts in a couple of days and said they were
keeping them in stock for the old head because there were still so
many of them around. If anyone is interested i can look up the
contact data for the supplier.
