Peggie, for those of us who do not have toilet "systems" but use portable Thetford type "dump" units which hold about 2.5 gallons of waste, is the product "KO" good to use in these applications and how does it compare to other products like Envirochem or Aqua-Kem Green? Your recommendations on products and procedures for these types of systems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

K.O. needs oxygen...

So, while it works fine in larger "pumpable" portapotties that are vented, it doesn't work worth a damn in small portapotties with sealed tanks. If you're not happy with any of the chemicals you've tried, try using undiluted white vinegar....it prevents odors by lowering the pH to a level that stops bacterial action. For that reason, we don't recommend it for use in holding tanks because no bacterial action also means no breakdown of solids and paper...but portapotties hold so little and are dumped so frequently that nothing has time to break down very much anyway. Btw...pumpable portapotties hold more than twice as much and fit in the same footprint as the small ones. The only plumbing required is a vent and a line to a pumpout deck fitting. Total cost: under $150. An upgrade you might consider for the coming season.
