Where is the best place to put a thru-hull on a C22? Is it behind the keel and how far back? Thanks

knotmeter location

I put mine on the port side of the keel, its about even with keel (when lowered)and 6inches off housing. This puts the meter in a good spot for removal when loading boat. Most important is no keel turbulance will affect the meter reading when mounted here.

knotmeter locatiion

I mounted mine forward of the keel just behind where the bow "vee" starts to flatten out. bedded it with 3M 5200 access is in front of the porta-pottie area thru the access hatch. It is also a good place to mount the depth finder for a good inside the hull or thru hull transducer. I have an Autohelm ST-30 Bidata which is fantastic (only one gauge). The hull is pprox 2" thick in this location. Good Luck and don't sweat it. David Bergevin C-22 #12454 "BADAM"
