Kite aerial video photography

Have seen some sailing video done with kites an this looks really fun to me. I have been experimenting with my go pro and see some are flying these? Anyone doing this have any tips or links to kites and rigs. I saw several on a google search but would like some first hand knowledge before I buy.

Looking over kite kit prices i also started looking at drones. They are now under $500. I could also use a drone for work. Anyone using one of these off their boat? They now have a follow me system that would keep the drone near.

I think the system you refer to is the go home feature. You program your position and if the drone looses signal it goes back to that spor. If you are undwrway, you arent there!

Please correct me if Im wrong.

Im concerned about trying to land one on a pitching deck of a sailboat with rigging all around!

There are a couple drones in the works that they say have a homing system that if you are moving it will follow you. So i thought if i was on the boat sailing into a harbor or such, i could launch it and lit it video my arrival. Things like that. I saw these on line searching for gopro drones.

There is a quad that is water "proof". It has a sealed body and is made to land on water. http://www.quadh2o.com/

I met the owner of Skyeye he is still turning out copters by hand and had an porter for 300 by end of the month.

Amazing Video of an Athletic Quadcopter from TED

I came across this video in my suggestion box from YouTube. It is from TED and demonstrates what a "athletic Quad" is capable of.
It really is impressive and makes me hopeful for at least some of our future generations.

The trick as I see it with a drone is trying to retrieve it onto a sailboat with lots of standing and running rigging while bobbing around in 3' seas.
