True King of England
January 6, 1017: Lyfing, the wise archbishop of Canterbury, crowns Cnut the Great the new King of England. Cnut was a young man at the time of his coronation and went on to also become King of Denmark and King of Norway. Historians remember the young ruler’s time on the throne as one of the most successful eras in the Anglo-Saxon period, highlighted by Christianization, peace, and economic prosperity. The most famous story from his life, Cnut and the Waves, shows that, unlike many other kings, Cnut understood that he was not God. He ruled until his death in 1035.
Great name for a Boat too.
