It tears my heart to recommend KLSC to anyone.....
But the truth is indeed that it is a great place to relax and sail in a totally nonpretentious environment. Nelleke and I just happened to stumble into KLSC last November and spent a delightful 5 days there, sailing a 23 ft O'Day. For us this was an excellent way of softening the culture shock from being transplanted back into the USA after 4 months of sailing the remote islands of Vanuatu for Project MARC (see link). Think of KLSC as a Steinbeckian/Hemingwayesque throwback to the fifties with totally laidback management and an ever varying cast of gregarious old sailors and their gals. If KLSC ever decides to become a water's edge retirement home for sailors, Nelleke and I would reserve our spot right away. The sad reality is, of course, too many people are going to "discover" KLSC, the bay-shore will become lined with condos and we will be forced to retire on Sakao island in the Maskelyne group of the Vanuatu archipelago (see image). Oh well, no good deed goes unpunished.

Flying DutchmanPSThe ugly bright Tinker sail and fiberglass hulls spoiling the traditional dugout sailing canoe scene in the picture belong to "Flying Angel II" (still under construction), our clinic's new catamaran for transporting patients. In it's final form we will attempt to make Flying Angel II blend in better.
