Kewaunee, WI - Lake Michigan

Have any of you Lake Michigan sailors had the opportunity to make port in Kewaunee, WI. It's at the south end of Door County (just out of Door County actually). I was wondering what your impressions were? I have a possible opportunity to buy some lakefront property there, and was wondering what the sailing is like up that way. I'll be headed up there this year for the Hook Race, but may need to make a decision on the property before I get to sail up there. So? Any feedback and experiences are greatly welcome. Keewaunee

A nice port. Subject to heavy fog. Close to Door County but you can probably buy for less than Door County prices. Interesting story about the name Keewaunee.....seems it is a native American word meaning something like "where are you?". Native travelers along the fogbound shore would often cry out "keewaunee" hoping that someone on shore could guide them to a safe landing.
