I recently purchased my first sailboat. It's a 1987 Hunter 25. It came equipped with a Kenyon alcohol stove which doesn't work. Is it possible to obtain an illustrated parts breakdown, service manual and parts price list? I would like to return it to serviceable condition. Thanks, Richard Baldwin

Kits, manuals etc.. for Kenyon stoves

http://www.packstoves.com/service.html Rich, You're going to get a load of posts telling you to get rid of the Kenyon. I have an Optimus Princess (same as the Kenyon)on my boat and after rebuilding it, it works very well. Just tell the people from Packstoves.com what you've got and they'll send you the basic kits to get you started. BTW, when you order parts, they send you the manual, operating instructions and Illistrated parts breakdown etc.. for free. Finally, Defender sells complete new burners for your stove. Good luck and remember, these old stoves are a lot better than most people think and have advantages over the currently popular Origo fondue pot heaters. Greg

Get rid of the Kenyon.

Richard: Get rid of the Kenyon and get a Origo non-pressurized stove.

Or convert to propane?

Not the best solution but $400. versus $800. for a new one. Tasco does it I think. Almost rather use alcohol then try to find a safe place for propane on even my 37-footer.

You need parts , they got em,,,,,

Tasco(Taunton Stove Company), in North Dighton Mass has purchased all of the kenyon lines and has so far, had all the parts I have needed. They have helped me out and I was able to rebuild my stove for about $ 120.00 this saved me from purchasing a new stove and the system to run it that would have easily run $ 1700.00 ( gas lockes, regulators etc......). I know your next question, Does it work OK ? My answer is that it just works ok. For the limited time we use our boats, and the even fewer time we us the stove it workable. But If money is not an object, or you will be using it reqularly, I woulod go with propane.
