I am going to have my h26 in a slip this year, with the exception of a 2 week trip to Kentucky Lake. Any advice on treating the water in the ballast tank?

Water Ballast

There is no need to replace the water under normal conditions. Some people assert that the water gets "stale" and smells. Other concerns are critters growing in the tank, crawling up through the vent hole and attacking you while sleeping..... :) This is should not be a problem if you keep the vent hole plugged. Few if any organisms can survive for long in a sealed tank without light and depleted oxygen. Some owners have been known to treat the ballast with bleach, water bed solution or other chemicals. In virtually all situations discharging chemicals into open water is against the law and heavy fines are possible. If you believe you must change the water, the best and easiest way is to pull the boat for 5 min. and re-launch. Bleach...

I leave my boat in the water all year - pull it out maybe once a year when the weather channel says it's time to go on a road trip! Anyway, I use bleach in the tank and refresh maybe every 6 months. I suspect there is some leakage but it can't be too much. I've never had a problem of smells when I open the vent. Regards and fair winds, Bill
