Hello everybody,

Have a project boat ('78 Mac 21) that I bought several years ago and my goal is to get it in the water this summer. I was told that it was used a couple of times and then just sat and baked on the trailer from then on. I have replaced all the hardware and installed new rubber everywhere. I need a new winch and cable, and want to be sure that I get the right brake winch for the keel's weight. Can somebody let me know what that keel weighs? I've searched online and can't seem to find the info anywhere. I just found this great site!

Thanks in advance!

Clark

Many Thanks!

Thanks, CAGuy! I've seen the brand on Ebay, and will make my purchase. I really appreciate your fast reply...
The winch is a Dutton-Lainson. The keel weighs 625 on the Mac 25 and 400# on the V-21.

Dutton-Lainson also sells parts for the winch. Here is a link to an article posted by Bob Gump. I have found that spray the winch with a lubricant loosens it up and keeps it working.
