My '68 Venture 21 is in need of major keel work. Is there anyone out there who knows how much it is supposed to weigh? The one on my boat is exactly 245 lbs. Doesn't seem like enough. Any info would be appreciated.

Keel weight, V-21

According to the sales brochure, the V-21 keel weight should be 400 lbs. Be sure to preserve the same area and shape and to keep as much of the weight in the bottom as possible. Messing round with any of this can cause weird sailing characteristics and might even get unsafe. Consider chemically etching the exterior of the steel shell and putting on epoxy-based primer before bottom paint-- it will prevent ugly rust hassles in future. JC 2
