I have just taken over an original good condition 1982 First 26 with a retractable keel. The water is just a little too cold to swim in to work out which way I should wind the winch (in the centre of the table) to make sure the keel is down when the sails are up! I have trialed it and it seems that as the load gets heavier (clockwise) and you think it is being pulled up, it is actually going down! It sails better when it is in the position too but in light winds it's not conclusive and I don't want to try it in heavy winds if I'm wrong!Does someone know which way guarantees it's down and whether there is a standard rule for all Beneteau's.Thanks to anyone who can give me this simple piece of guidance.Peter
