While raising the keel, I must have overturned the winch at the top end. The shaft extension for the handle, which connects to the winch shaft unscrewed. The keel is at the raised position but after I re-screwed the extension back onto the winch shaft, It will not wind down, but unscrews the extension. I believe there are set screws which hold the extension to the shaft. What size are they? Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?

Is the keel lock in place?

by chance, did you forget to release the keel lock? It could be holding the keel up and causing the handle to unscrew! Otherwise, something is jamming the keel or cable. If the keel bolts are out of position then the pivot could have shifted locking the keel in place. I like to look for the simple answers first, then bite the bullet on the bad ones. Good luck on it just being the keel lock. Bob
