Just recently Bought a 85 Mac 22 and doing a little work on her, mostly cosmetic stuff, bottom paint, wood refinishing, cleaning etc. noticed the keel cable is attached with a bolt that is bent and I want to replace it with a shackle but having a little trouble figuring out what length to use. Any help or ideas will be sincerely appreciated!

While mine is a 25ft boat, I think the cable attachment might be the same. It is a bolt through the hole in the keel - through a thimble - then a large washer and finally the lock nut holding it all together. Nothing fancy like a shackle

That's it, worth replacing, along with the cable just because. I would replace the winch if it is at all suspect, ie really rusty or the brake doesn't work. If it isn't a brake winch, it is a must replace item, 600lbs of keel is nothing to fool with.
