My last day on the water ended in disaster. I heard a loud clunk under the boat while under motor and upon further investigation found my swing keel suspended under the boat only by the uphaul line. I managed to get it back on board and now i'm faced with the delema of how to reatach it. From what i've read in some of the other blogs it sounds like I will have to raise the boat on stands and install it vertically from under the boat and bolt it back in from in the cabin by the compression post. The only problem is the support bracket is gone. Any advise or technical info regarding this process would be greatly appreciated.

Is your bracket gone, or is it still bolted in the centerboard trunk? Perhaps the centerboard pin failed.

If the bracket is really gone then you have probably also lost the
uphaul roller and pin as well as the centerboard support pin and sleeve.

I believe the centerboard can be installed from any angle even horizontal, but the bracket must slide up vertically with the centerboard attached.

One replacement is covered in the smaller boats archive.

When the boat is on jacks also inspect the hull for cracks by the bracket's location. They would manifest as leaks from the ballast tank when the boat is pulled.
