Buying a MacGregor 26x and need to transport across state but has no trailer, going to rent a trailer boat worried about cross beam of trailer landing where keel is, so question is anyone have measurement of where the front of sailboat hits the roller off of winch stand to where the keel is much appreciate any info and if anyone lives in Saint Petersburg FL that has a trailer looking for adventure, about 538 miles around trip but pays very well thanks Randy Trommater.

Save yourself some money and grief and have a true adventure by sailing the boat to its destination. These boats don't have a keel, they have a center board which is OK to be supported by a cross beam on the trailer rather than resting suspended on the raising and lowering cable. A trip from Miami to St. Pete or vice versa could be easily done over 4 days, crossing the Keys at Marathon.

Haven't learned to sail yet have someone here in St Pete that's going to teach me when i get sailboat, my brother is trying to contact friend who sails to see if he would go with me. Out board doesn't run and no dinghy but not a game killer, have food and water will travel right.

Would it be better to go through Lake Okachobee?

If you don't have a motor and haven't learned to sail going by water is a bad idea for you. If the centerboard completely retracts into the hull you do not need to worry about any cross beams damaging it. Perhaps rent a trailer that has parallel rails like many power boat trailers have.

Where did you find the heavy duty tandem axle boat trailer for to rent? It's a somewhat common question to be asked by a new sailboat owners because more sailboats don't have trailers than have them.

If motor not running and unfamiliar with the boat go ahead and trailer it.
