Hi all, im new to the forum and i'm in the process of purchasing my first boat, i use to sail hobie cats.. im current looking at a 351 and had it surveyed , there is a separation at the trailing edge where the keel meets the hull, just about 4 inches long. The previous survey noted that it was normal for beneteau boats to have this separation due to lateral flexing and that there is nothing to worry about is this true? thanks in advance

I had the same on my 352. The surveyor I had said the same thing. No water was coming in and the keel nuts were tight. He sugested that while it was on the travel lift, fill the small gap with 5200.

I have a First 375 that did the same thing. You wlll find that the keel extends quite a distance past the last keel bolts and it tends to separate at the back.
While the boat was in the slings I dug out the old calking and filled the cavity with 4200. That was 3 years ago and it hasn't separated again so far.

This is great information. I have a 38m and also noticed this gap/ 3~4 inches that went well past the bolts. Was worried when had a haul out and saw in it in the sling Had some 5200 put in, no sea water entering. Thanks

It shouldn't extend well past the bolts. We're talking about a 3-4" long small gap on the trailing edge of the keel. Unless I'm not reading your post right?
