Keel - Fin vs. Wing

I am contemplating the purchase of a new Catalina 34 mk II. I am interested in the opinions regarding fin vs. wing keel. I'll gladly listen to your opinion regarding any other topic about the 34.Thanks,Chip

Wing or Fin

Wing keels on the east coast.Fin Keels on the West coast.Boats perform better with the fin as in going to weather and the fin weighs less giving better down wing and with less lee drift, the fin works better on a reach too, but the wing keel gives a better ride (smooter)and goes in shallower water. Gunk holeing is more often done on the east coast, than the west.Good luckBob
