I have a '81 Catalina 25 with 4' draft. I was wondering if it would be cost effective to swap keels out to the newer wing keel. That would give me the 3' draft that I could use to bring the boat home. Is it possible?
Thanks,
Hugh

I would suggest you take the question over to the Catalina 25 250 Capri 25 owners forum at http://catalina-capri-25s.org.

Next to the factory, they are probably your best source of information for all things Catalina

Short answer - yes it is possible. Most of these keels are bolted on/caulked in with something like 3M 5200 so the job would be a MAJOR pain; not to mention the cost of the new keel. If you're lucky, you might find a wing keel from a salvaged boat.

Here is a link to Mars - a source for new keels: http://www.marskeel.com/keels/10

However, you'd be better off finding a different boat that meets your needs.
