I am considering the purchase of a 1979 Hunter 33. Due to the area I sail in (downeast) the keel configuration is most important. I cannot find a plan that shows the boat below the waterline. Does anyone have photos or an address that I get this info? Thanks, pete

H33 keel configuration

I have a 1980 H33, the deep draft model. There are two models of the 33, the shoal draft, around 4 feet, and the deep draft, 5' 3", THe deep draft is a standard fin keel, the keel material is lead - I do not know about the shoal draft. The keel on the deep draft model is attached by stainless keel bolts.

Thanks for info

Thanks for the offer of info. I am looking for pictures of the 5 foot 3" keel. My concern is snagging pots. Downeast the lobster pots have both a toggle to help keep the lines above the heavy currents, then about 30' of line leading to a pickup. If you split the two, the line rakes your bottom. An exposed prop, or vertical fin or rudder can be very troublesome. rourke@wit.edu

H33 Fin keel shape

the deep draft version (5'3")is a vertical keel shape. THe front edge sweeps back at a 20 - 25 degree angle - you might look at the "boats" section in this forum, maybe some fo them have a side drawing of the boat and keel shape.
