snip<< I plan (hope?) to replace it while in the water by diving beneath the boat to remove the old cable at the keel, attaching the new one at the keel, and threading it up through the thru-hull and hose to an assistant inside the boat for attachment to the winch. Has anyone tried this method? If so, can you give me any tips, or things to watch out for? >> snipHi List,If anyone is interested, I completed the cable replacement project last Sunday. While probably not the recommended method, the keel tube hose CAN be removed while the boat is in the water without sinking the boat. I couldn't hold my breath long enough to fish the cable up from below, so I removed the hose, pin, and turning ball, fed the cable down through the hull, then replaced the ball, pin and hose. The hose was off maybe 5-10 minutes, during which time less than a gallon of water sloshed into the boat. In any event, my keel cable is replaced, and Doo Dad is back in business. Thanks to all who offered advice.Chuck K.Doo Dad12418Merrick, NY
