Recently the old caulking around the keel bolt is seeping. about 1 inch of water every 24 hours. Want to fix it before cold weather. I am docked by a beach and intend to put a ramp to lift just the bow up a bit to keep the keel bolt out of the water to work on it. Anyone got any suggestions or done this before? Tony C.

My keel bolt gas a rubber washer inside of it. try that instead of caulking.

Keel bolt repair

I re-sealed our keel's pivot pin. A description of the process, with some photos, can be found at our web site: http://www.geocities.com/conimob our bilge stayed dry as a desert for 2 years afterward. We just sold the boat but it's new owners keep it moored near us. The bilge is still dry. You shouldn't have any trouble doing the job if you can get the boat at least partly out of the water. If the pin has elongated the holes through the fiberglass, you might be in for some extra work. Good luck. Dan
