it looks like we'll be having another couple on board for the July 4th weekend and they've indicated a desire to sail to someplace where they can rent kayaks for several hours on one of the days while we're anchored someplace.

Since we'll be leaving Oyster Bay and heading East, does anyone know any harbors to head for on the Connecticut shore where there might be kayaks to rent?

Due to time contstraints I'm thinking of anyplace between Stamford and no further East than the Thimbles on that side of the Sound and we'd probably hit Port Jeff on the return before getting back to Oyster Bay.

I believe there are rentals available in Norwalk. The islands are wonderful to paddle around!

Thanks, Rich. Do have any idea who rents them?

We could go there but I was hoping to get a little further afield. Norwalk is only about a 2 hr sail from Oyster Bay. I'd really like to find something closer to the Thimbles or at least further East than Bridgeport. At least then I could get a minimum of a 4 hr sail in before dropping the hook.

I think the small boat shop directly in the harbor does. I think a google search for kayak rentals in Norwalk my provide an answer. I'm not sure about rentals further up, perhaps Madison CT has something. Enjoy
