They show footage of the Dog and Fowl Rivers I think they are streaming their wall to wall coverage. What I have seen does not look good. http://wkrg.com/

back bay Popps Ferry

I'm glad you found your husband. I too am interested in the Back Bay area. Does anyone know how the back bay area (Popps Ferry Road) of Biloxi faired through the hurricane? Any pictures? Landmarks are : 1. Popps Ferry Fire Station in Biloxi 2. Wildwood Trace subdivision 3. Corner at Popps Ferry & Riverview Drive landmarks--should be traffic lt. at intersection.: NE corner is City of Biloxi water tower, on the Southeast corner is the Biloxi fire station & Margaret Sherry Library (2 are connected to each other.) Southwest corner are soccer fields; Northwest corner parking and tennis courts. My parents are safe in North Mississippi.... but they have 'no idea' how their home is doing. The anxiety is building with every day that goes by with the unknown. They are in their 70's and need some type of peace or 'frame of reference' As all of you know there is no communication going in or out of biloxi by phone. THANKS a BUNCH

Slidell devestated, worse than New Orleans.

Slidell actually took a worse hit than New Orleans from the actual approach of the hurricane. New Orleans was actually on the west side of the eye, which, if you know anything about hurricanes, means that they got the weak, or backside of the winds and tide surge. Slidell took it head on. (I used to live there and have a lot of friends who still do.) Follow the link below for full details.

Dog River

I had My boat on the hard at Turner's ( in for repairs from Ivan ) My boat is now a total loss . It re-floated and was destroyed after mingling with other boats and the the dock at Dog River Marina . Many boats on the yard are in the same shape. The travel lift is out of operation at Turners . The entire area is littered with hulls . I did find one interesting thing . Catalinas with wing keels are remaining upright standing on the keel very strange . anyone with a boat in the marina or on the yard has experniced damage some are floating and look to be ok but I can not see any boat that remained in the marina escaping some sort of damage

Looking at the photos looks like everything is gone. Bad news for us out here as well because all the ones here are turning into condos.

Hurricaine Katrina: Slidell, LA info

LA and I have a 38 Shannon located at Oak Harbor Marina in Slidell, LA. We visited Slidell on Monday, 9/5, to survey the damage to our boat and the marina. The marina took a heavy hit. Many boats have sunk, and many large trawlers and sailboats floated onto land near the apartments. Our boat, thankfully, had minor damage to the toerails, gelcoat, and stanchions. Lost an anchor. Many of the floating docks have broken up and some of the fixed docks were destroyed. Mike and Bianca Brooks of Jojamela did an extraordinary job of photographing all of the boats in the marina. Visit their website at http://www.jojamela.us to see these unbelievable photographs. Keep the fellow boaters in your prayers as well as all of the residents of Louisiana and Mississippi who were so profoundly affected by this disaster.
