I have been using K.O. in my tank for the past year and this past weekend it proved its worth! When I first started using K.O about a year ago the difference was almost immediate. Our boat launched at the beginning of June this year and once commissioned, I flushed some KO into the tank per instructions. For the past week we have had a musty odourr in the boat but nothing too distasteful, so while I was cleaing the bilge on Sunday while rocking at the dock in 30 kt winds, I found some what I thought to be fungus growth in the bilge. It turned out to be material from the holding tank. While I made my way towards the V berth where the holding tank is located, upon opening the lockers discovered that one of the fittings from the tank had released and only 2/3 of the flush was entering the tank while the residual was hitting the bilge. I suspect that some of the K.O I had used a couple of weeks prior after a pump out had also made its way to the bilge. Suffice to say this could have been a real disaster had the boat been used more in the past couple of weeks. It could have been much worse cleaning things up had K.O. not been so effective in killing the odours!I have not been able to find K.O in Canada as yet, but I am pushing a couple of my main chandlers to get it! I will take a weekend to drive to Buffalo if necessary to get a supply of K.O. for my boat after this experience.
