I have a Universal 25xp with the standard Hurth tranny. I periodically check the fluid level in the tranny and have only once in 6 years had to add a few ounces.

My question is....What would actually happen if the tranny was overfilled with fluid by say, double the required amount? And, would it affect the engine in any way?

Like I said.....Just wondering..

Transmission would run a good bit hotter because of all the oil getting beat up in there.. a lot of oil would upchuck out of the vent .. no serious damage ..

Yes....
The trans has a vent so no pressure would build to blow seals, and as said,it would probably run hotter and could foam the oil, which would push out the vent.... a mess!

It is very important to change the fluid in a Hurth hydraulic transmission on a yearly basis (or 250 hours). The fluid is part of the drive process. Extract the fluid, change it and put the recommended fluid in. Typically ATF or synthetic.
