removehtml]I'm a new owner (Nov 07), never had her in the water yet. I'm visiting Sarasota, FL Jan 31 to Feb 02. Are there any owners in the area? Any 'first sail' tips from other owners of the 25? Where are FM/CD radios being mounted? Regards, John Error: Error: expected [/URL], but found [/removehtml] instead[/removehtml]

Mounting a CD/FM Radio

Hi John, I have a 2005 Hunter 25 and my radio/CD player is surface mounted starboard below the electrical panel, tucked under the bulkhead. It is out of the way and functions very well there. I had the dealer install it and he used a plastic enclosure with a flip down door. I chose a satellite radio and I am happy with it. Also, I have a hard wired remote on the rear part of the transom. I have two speakers port and starboard in the cockpit and two below port and starboard. The boat is shrink wrapped at the dealer, so I can't send you pictures. If you are running wire for speakers, etc., you might want to add a 12 volt DC outlet on the pedestal and run some extra wires for electronics, in case you need them later. I am always looking for a bigger boat, but I am happy with the Hunter 25. Hope this helps, Barry

Congrats on your Hunter 25

John, I am also a new owner of a new 2006 Hunter 25.I purchased her in Nov 2007. My commisioning won't be until the springtime, but I have been creating a list of possible additions. I have contacted a few Hunter 25 owners and they gave me some good insight on modifications that have been done. If you come across with any good mods, please do let me know. Cheers, Nick

Stuff on my 25

I have a 2006 Hunter 25. I mounted a clarion marine stereo with IPOD connectivity on the side of the cabinet where the sink is. It is facing the stern of the boat and protrudes into the upper part of the cabinet. I also have a wired remote installed right beside my engine controls in the cockpit. The remote is waterproof. I have bose speakers inside and then cube speakers in the cockpit mounted on the steering wheel pulpit. Other various stuff I've done. All cushions from this Chandlery in Navy Blue sunsure with white piping. Stern seat backrest made from Navy Sunbrella. Companionway cover in Navy sumbrella. Lifeline backrests on lifelines on the side of the cockpit. Also modified a lifeline backrest to work as a backrest for the center helm seat. I have two Gel cell batteries, an onboard charger with shore power I added. With appropriate breakers etc. Shore power connector is under the lift up seat right next to the hatch in the cockpit. I have a A, B, A+B, Off switch for the battery bank mounted over the rear bunk along with the shorepower breaker. I have two GFCI AC plugs in the boat. I have a 14 flat screen 12 volt tv with a Seawatch 2030 applified antenna mounted at the top of the mast. I have a lowrance gps, depth, speed device. I hard mounted my portable stove (for tax purposes). I have a magna grill that mounts to the stern rail. I have a wheel pedestal cover in made from Navy Sunbrella. I have rod holders on the stern rail (I like to troll for white bass some days). I had vinyl cut for the name and port for the boat. This is placed on the stern. You can see it beside this posting. I have a 9.9 yamaha high thrust, electric start, electric tilt motor, with controls. I installed a day/night solar vent in the front hatch. I have an anchor mount that holds the anchor on the bow pulpit. Probably some other stuff I can't think of. I love the boat. Mine stays in a slip on Lake Travis all year. There is probably a photo or two of my boat on this site. My first sail tips are pretty short. Reef early, take plenty of fuel and beer in case the wind goes away.

My radio and other stuff

I have had my 25 for two years now. It is a 2006 model. Here is a list of stuff done to the boat. Installed Clarion Marine AM/FM/CD with IPOD connectivity. It is installed in the side of the cabinet facing the rear of the boat. It extends into the cabinet on the inside. This stereo also has a wired remote that I mounted in the cockpit near my engine controls. I mounted two bose outdoor speakers on the inside of the boat. I have two small cube sony speaker mounted on the bottom side of the wheel pedestal facing toward the stern (nice for swimming). Installed 12" flat screen television on an adjustable arm mount on the wall of the head facing the stern of the boat. The mount allow the tv to swing out to where it can be seen from the cockpit as well. This is a 12 volt tv connected to a amplified sea watch antenna mounted on top of the mast. Installed Shore power. I placed the shore power connector under the seat in the cockpit next to the hatch over the rear bunk. I installed a 3 place breaker above the rear bunk as well as two gfci outlets (one above the rear bunk, the other above the tv on the head wall. The shore power runs a dual bank charger mounted in the space above the battery location. This charges two gel cell batteries. This also has a A,B,A+B,Off switch mounted just above the rear bunk. Stuff from the chandlery here. I have Navy Blue with White piping sunshure cushions for the cockpit and the stern rail seats. I have Navy lifeline backrest for the cockpit as well as one I made short enough to go across the stern lifeline behind the helm seat. I have a Navy sunbrella companionway cover and a Navy pedestal cover. I mounted a day/night solar vent in the bow hatch. I ordered a yamaha 8hp high thrust, electric start, electric tilt motor with controls for the boat when I bought it. I have a magna grill mounted on the stern rail along with a couple of rod holders. I have a lowrance gps, depth, speed device mounted on the pedestal guard. I mounted an anchor hanger on the bow pulpit. This way it doesn't interfere with the jib furler line. After two years of owning this boat, I have been very pleased with both the quality and performance for my needs.
