My boat's serial number is 808 but date of manufacture is unkown , any suggestions? Also , the turnbuckles on the standing rigging are bronze. I once lost a mast when a bronze turnbuckle on the forstay blew out bucking into a big headsea. I'm thinking of changing them to stainless but an old timer told me if they were phosphor bronze that they would be stronger than stainless. Anyone able to answer that one?

Turnbuckles

I Can only tell you that when I had my C-24 hauled, the guy immediately recognized those turnbuckles and said "wow. you can't get these anymore, these are nice". So maybe they are as your friend said, a high quality phosphor bronze. Same with the winches. Columbia had high standards. For more information, visit the web site www.columbia-yachts.com.
