Ok... question # 1 What goes between the alum. spreader tube and the side stays (cables) because there is nothing now. Plastic, brass, tip of some kind? Found nothing online thanks john

Good luck with your new boat. I think what your refering to are spreader boots, see attached link. You can buy them at most marine supply store. The common ones are PVC. They would fit over the ends of the spreaders. You should post in the C22 forum. You'll probably get more replys for your boat there.

You might consider buying Pat Royce's
Sailboat Illustrated book. Or at least look at it in a chandlery. It has a great writeup with sketches of the C22 of your vintage, as well as neat safety issues specific to the C22. One of the first books we ever bought, still have it.
