I have ordered a new fuel tank to replace my 'too dirty too clean' tank but it will take 4 weeks to get it, in the mean time, I was thinking I could take the fuel pickup tube (or just the hose that goes from the tank to the primary filter) out of my tank and stick it into a diesel can (secured, of course) and just bypass my tank altogehter. Does this sound reasonable? Any thing I need to do besides put the hose down into the can? Thanks for all your input... again, jane

Outboard

How about an outboard fuel tank? A dealer in outboards may have one he can sell reasonably, or possibly a loan? Just clean out the remaining gas with some diesel before putting into service. Much safer than a can lashed to something.

Yes, Outboard tank.

In fact I carry one all the time. It sits in a locker as a backup in case of fuel problems. Slip the hose on the Racor, clamp it down, two squeezes of the hose bulb(no bleeding), and she starts right up. Of course I had to cut the hose off at the outboard end. I use the one in the "Related Link". For your purposes I suppose the larger 6 gallon tank would be called for.

Ed, darn good idea

Ed, that's a great idea on the outboard tank. New ones aren't that expensive. When I did the repower thing, I built a fuel manifold because I have 2 tanks on the Hunter. I can easy add a connection to the manifold for the tube. That's a great idea.
